Our Commitment to
Responsible Packaging
The vast majority of our packaging is designed to be recyclable.
The paper used to wrap our chocolates comes from sustainably managed forests with FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification.
The iconic packaging used for our bars was originally inspired by tobacco pouches, designed to protect the chocolate from air, humidity and light. However, these pouches included a layer of plastic around the paper, which made them difficult to recycle. In 2021, we decided to replace these pouches with cardboard packaging, thus reducing our use of plastic by 80%. As well as that, the cardboard is fully recyclable.
The protective film used for our chocolates is now 100% recyclable PET. Similarly, the material used for the transparent boxes that showcase our chocolates is made from recycled PET. This too is completely recyclable.
In addition to the above, we only work with packaging suppliers based near us. This means that we can work more closely and quickly with our partners, as well as minimising our carbon footprint.
Recycling
Protecting the environment has always been close to Dolfin’s heart. Managing waste is part of this. However rigorously we control our raw materials, it is possible that some organic waste, whether or not it is packaged, remains and becomes unusable for other purposes. This waste is collected and sent for anaerobic digestion.
Packaged waste is first pre-treated to separate the residual packaging from any organic matter.
The residual packaging is incinerated in such a way that energy can be recovered.
The organic matter is sent for anaerobic digestion to produce electricity from the biogas that is generated.
This means that everything is recycled or reused: nothing goes to waste.
Next-generation
green buildings
We are determined to be forward-thinking at Dolfin, and we are committed to building a more sustainable world. This is why we have invested in green facilities that reflect our values and our vision for a responsible business.
New buildings have been designed to respond to the latest ecological requirements.
These are some of the initiatives that we have introduced:
- Solar Panels: Our facilities are equipped with solar panels, which means we can produce some of our own clean, renewable electricity. This helps to lower our reliance on fossil fuels and reduce our carbon footprint.
- Environmental Certification: Our buildings are grade A+ certified, which means that they comply with the strictest energy efficiency standards. This certification guarantees that our facilities are designed to minimise energy consumption and maximise the use of renewable resources.
- Sustainable Materials: When we construct our buildings, we use sustainable, environmentally friendly materials, which contributes to the longevity and the sustainability of our facilities.
We sincerely believe that every business has a crucial part to play in protecting our planet. By embracing green construction practices, we reduce our impact on the environment and help preserve natural resources for future generations.
